ABOUT THE COMPANY

Safaricom, Ltd is a leading mobile network operator in Kenya. It was formed in 1997 as a fully owned subsidiary of Telkom Kenya. In May 2000, Vodafone Group Plc of the United Kingdom acquired a 40% stake and management responsibility for the company. Safaricom employs over 1,500 people mainly stationed in Nairobi and other big cities like Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Eldoret in which it manages retail outlets. Currently, it has nationwide dealerships to ensure customers across the country have access to its products and services.

JOB SUMMARY

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in either Computer Science or Information Technology, Electrical and communication engineering or Business Information Systems or in a relevant field in telecommunication.At least 2 years’ experience in a busy telco or IT setup.Domain knowledge in at least 3 of the following areas, Databases, Containerization, VAS, Integration, Virtualization,Cloud (AWS or Azure), Orchestration (Kubernetes), App development (Android / IOS)Good understanding of the micro service architecture & appreciation of thetraditional/classic SOATechnical Knowledge of working on Dev-OpsBeing able to implement strict change management policyGood understanding of back-end programming such us Python, Java - Springboot.Formulate SLAs for each level of incident and therefore implement a service management approach for all types of services rendered.Be well versed with modern monitoring tools and systems with experience in APMs suchas ELK, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, Splunk etc.Well versed with SRE concepts with respect to providing

RESPONSIBILITIES

Proactively building and implementing monitoring services, including end to end monitoring, scripting and automation, modern tooling and maintenance software.Use of AI and Machine learning to perform log analysis and create predictive models that will assist in identifying potential failures.Developing and executing automation scripts and maintenance jobs.Documentation and closure of monitoring gaps under the mind the gap initiative.Onboarding DIT systems to the service monitoring tools (APMs such as ELK, Dynatrace etc.)Write and deploy custom scripts in picking specific monitoring metrics.Come up with Log ingestion pipelines and parsing of the same.Support all Digital squads to ensure new products are monitored.Support in Zero touch Operations initiatives.
