Forklift & Wheel Loader OperatorLocation: Mombasa
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor
About the Role: Our client is seeking safety-conscious, certified Forklift and Wheel Loader Operators to support fertilizer terminal operations at Mombasa warehouse.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement, loading, unloading, and stacking of bagged and bulk fertilizer products across vessel unloading, warehouse, and truck loading areas, working to strict throughput and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities


  • Obtain shift schedules or dispatch instructions and transport fertilizer products, pallets and equipment to and from designated locations within the terminal.
  • Operate forklifts and wheel loaders safely to load, unload, transport, stack and store bagged fertilizer products within the warehouse, yard and weighbridge areas.
  • Support inbound vessel unloading and outbound truck-loading operations, including regular bags and sling (Big Bag) loads, ensuring loads are stable and correctly positioned before moving.
  • Load and unload commercial trucks and container trailers; securely stack and stage palletized/bagged goods in assigned bays per warehouse standards.
  • Conduct and document daily pre-operation equipment inspections (tyres, hydraulics, brakes, forks); report mechanical issues promptly to the maintenance team to reduce downtime.
  • Maintain safe distances and right-of-way around pedestrians, stacks and other equipment; strictly observe traffic marshalling instructions and site speed/height limits at all times.
  • Achieve throughput targets while maintaining stacking standards, correct pallet configuration and housekeeping.
  • Keep accurate logs of materials moved, assist with inventory/stock counts, and complete tally sheets, delivery receipts and handover documentation as required.
  • Assist with general warehouse tasks such as sorting, packing, and supporting other handlers during peak vessel discharge or high-season operations.
  • Park, secure and, where applicable, recharge/refuel equipment correctly at end of shift; keep the forklift/wheel loader clean and report early signs of mechanical wear.
  • Identify and report workplace safety hazards immediately; adhere strictly to Clients’ Golden Rules and PPE requirements while operating equipment.
  • Perform any other warehouse duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor or contractor management.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Minimum KCSE certificate or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years' continuous experience operating forklifts/wheel loaders in a busy port, terminal, warehouse or manufacturing environment; prior fertilizer, bulk commodity or port operations experience is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with warehouse layouts, stacking standards, and inventory control procedures.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination, attention to detail and a demonstrated safety-first mindset.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including high-season 11–12 hour shifts with overtime.


Mandatory Certifications


  • Valid NTSA or equivalent forklift/wheel loader operator certification from an accredited institution (mandatory no exceptions).
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
