Land & Marine Publications is a UK-based publishing company with a strong presence in the East African market, where over 90% of our work originates. Since 1992, we have produced more than 20 high-quality titles annually, specialising in bespoke marketing publications for the airline and tourism sectors. Our portfolio includes branded in-flight magazines, travel guides, and custom editorial publications.

We are a small, friendly, and highly experienced team of editors, designers, sales professionals, and production staff, managing the entire publishing process in-house. Our collaborative approach ensures every project is engaging, impactful, and beautifully designed.

Since launching our first in-flight magazine in 2010, we have grown to become the leading provider of premium in-flight titles across East Africa. We work with some of the region’s most respected airline brands, delivering editorial and design that inspire, inform, and celebrate travel.

The Role

We are looking for a skilled freelance content writer with strong magazine and editorial experience to join our editorial team on a project-by-project basis.

This fully remote role is ideal for a dependable, self-motivated writer who thrives on travel-focused editorial work and can commit to long-term freelance collaboration.

What You’ll Be Working On

• Writing editorial content for East African in-flight magazines (approximately 95% of the role)

• Developing engaging editorial ideas into well-structured stories

• Sourcing relevant photography to support articles

• Supporting occasional bespoke agency and branded content projects

• Collaborating closely with the Managing Editor via Microsoft Teams / WhatsApp

You must have your own equipment, be easily contactable during UK working hours, and be comfortable working remotely as part of a collaborative creative team.

Please note: This freelance role requires consistent availability, long-term commitment, and the ability to work to strict deadlines.

What We’re Looking For

• A strong portfolio demonstrating magazine and editorial writing experience (essential)

• Proven experience working to deadlines and writing to precise word counts

• A keen eye for compelling storytelling

• The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Excellent communication skills and confidence working remotely

• Reliability, attention to detail, and professionalism
