ABOUT THE COMPANY

Kenya Tea Development Agency Limited was incorporated on 15th June 2000 as a private company under (CAP 486) of the laws of Kenya, becoming one of the largest private tea management agencies. The Agency currently manages 67 factories in the small-scale tea sub-sector in Kenya.

JOB SUMMARY

Qualifications/Skills/ExperienceMaster’s degree in Leadership, Strategy or Business Management and Engineering related fieldsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related fieldA minimum fifteen (15) years of experience, five (5) of which must have been at a senior managerial levelA member of the Engineering Board or other recognized bodyMust have demonstrated ability to handle divisional budgets, resources, processes, projects and relationshipsShould have thorough knowledge of the relevant sector as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the relevant sectorMust be capable of functioning effectively both as a team player and a team leaderMust demonstrate high level of integrityMust have strategic leadership skills with ability to build strategic relationshipsShould have experience in change management and the ability to drive change in a teamShould have high level problem solving and decision-making abilitiesShould be an effective communicator with the ability to handle high level communicationShould be result oriented with ability to deliver desired outcomeShould demonstrate ability to identify and respond to risk areas within the organizationShould have effective people management and conflict resolution skillsMust have knowledge in use of MS office packages and engineering software

RESPONSIBILITIES

Formulating and implementing KTDA Power Company’s strategies, policies, and proceduresDeveloping work plans and budgets for the organization for approvalOverseeing the execution of organizational work plans and budgetsOverseeing performance management of staff within the organizationEnsuring training needs of staff are identified and mitigating actions are takenManaging communications and staff development by cultivating individual talents, promoting and securing training resourcesBuilding relationships, facilitating team success, and providing direction while delegating responsiblyProviding training to project managers on technical and business-related topics to improve project performanceEnsuring good relations with customers, shareholders, development organizations, and the business community are maintainedRepresenting the company in negotiations and discussions with shareholders, state, and private organizationsEnsuring procurement needs of the organization are well taken care ofEnsuring timely and accurate provision of all relevant reportsEnsuring revenue targets and strategic plans are achieved, with all of KTDA Power Company’s activities conducted with a high commitment to a business orientationEnsuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements in implementing projectsOverseeing the development and management of Small Hydro Power ProjectsEnsuring identification and development of other alternative forms of energyMonitoring the operations of KTPC and ensuring efficient management of the Regional Power Companies (RPCs)Ensuring financial, internal control, and administrative policies are established and followedOverseeing effective management of Human Resources for optimal productivity through policies and strategies that attract and retain qualified and competent staffOverseeing the development and implementation of corporate social responsibility initiatives and ensuring that the image is well projected and protected
