Human Resource Officer
Job summary
We are seeking a compliance-focused Human Resource Officer to manage payroll, statutory compliance, employee relations, HRIS, recruitment, and HR administration in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and the ability to independently run structured HR operations.
Job descriptions & requirements
Key Responsibilities1. Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes (advertising, screening, interviews, selection, onboarding).
- Maintain accurate job descriptions and staffing records.
- Facilitate structured induction and probation tracking.
2. Payroll & Statutory Compliance (Critical Area)
- Prepare accurate payroll inputs (attendance, overtime, leave, deductions).
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including PAYE, NSSF, SHIF/NHIF, Housing Levy and related remittances.
- Maintain statutory trackers and ensure timely submissions.
- Support payroll reconciliation and reporting.
3. Employee Relations & Disciplinary ManagementHandle employee grievances, investigations, and disciplinary processes.Ensure all disciplinary procedures are documented and compliant with Kenyan Labour Laws.Advise management on labour matters and risk mitigation.4. HRIS & Records Management
- Maintain accurate HRIS records and employee documentation.
- Ensure proper filing of contracts, warnings, confirmations, and exit documents.
- Generate monthly HR reports (headcount, turnover, disciplinary cases, statutory status).
5. Performance & Policy Implementation
- Support performance management processes and KPI tracking.
- Assist in implementation and monitoring of HR policies and procedures.
- Promote a structured, compliant, and professional workplace culture.
6. Compliance & Industrial Environment Oversight
- Ensure adherence to Employment Act and applicable labour regulations.
- Support OHS coordination and maintain HR compliance documentation.
- Monitor workforce attendance, shift management, and labour discipline standards.
Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ progressive HR experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or labour-intensive environment.
- Valid IHRM membership; CHRP-K certification is highly preferred.
- Proven hands-on experience in payroll processing and statutory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and disciplinary procedures.
- Experience using HRIS systems.
- Ability to independently manage HR operations with minimal supervision.
