Instructional Designer - Software Training

Key Responsibilities

Content Development

• Design and develop online training content for software systems and applications
  
• Create interactive eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360 and other tools as needed (training provided)
  
• Develop job aids, user guides, quick reference cards, and other training materials for software applications
  
• Transform technical software documentation into user-friendly learning resources

Analysis & Collaboration

• Conduct training needs assessments to identify user knowledge gaps
  
• Perform GAP analysis with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders
  
• Leverage your technical background to quickly understand new software systems and applications
  
• Collaborate with development teams and business units to ensure training accuracy

Additional Duties

• Maintain training content library and documentation
  
• Support continuous improvement of training programs
  
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (Required - Please do not apply without a bachelor's degree)

Technical Background (Required)

• Background in software development, IT support, systems administration, or related technical field
  
• Strong understanding of software applications, databases, and IT systems
  
• Ability to quickly learn and master new software platforms and technologies
  
• Comfortable working with technical documentation and specifications

• Proven fast learner with ability to adapt quickly to new concepts and tools
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple, understandable terms

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in training delivery, user support, or knowledge transfer
  
• Experience creating documentation, user guides, or training materials
  
• Background in technical writing or communication
  
• Experience conducting user training sessions or workshops

Contract Terms

Employment Type: Independent Contractor (not employee)

Work Arrangement: 100% remote position requiring international travel outside of Kenya. All travel expenses (flights, accommodation, per diem, transportation) are fully covered by the company.

Travel Requirements: This role requires extended international deployment with a minimum of 8 consecutive months outside Kenya per assignment. Due to the demanding travel schedule, this position is not suitable for individuals with children or significant family responsibilities.

Time Off: 2 weeks unpaid vacation per year

Medical Benefits: Coverage provided for basic doctor visits and certain emergency hospital visits
