The Client
Our client is an alternative asset management firm with representation in London, Nairobi and Tunis. The firm was founded to raise and manage funds that will fill a financing gap and focus exclusively on the provision of bespoke financing solutions for businesses across Africa. They will be managing their flagship fund - a $200 million fund focused on making debt and mezzanine investments in Africa (the Fund).
The Role
Our client is searching for Investment Analysts/Associates (depending on level of experience), based in their Nairobi, Kenya Office. The candidate must have strong quantitative skills, detailed cash flow and financial modelling expertise and be proficient at presentation and communication.
Their Analysts / Associates deliver high caliber input and analysis at all stages of the investment process as they assist the team to carry out its investment strategy. The role involves both the sourcing and execution of credit and mezzanine deals in Africa and may entail travel within the Africa region. This position offers an attractive package with long term incentives and a clear career path.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with senior team members in origination, including idea generation and industry screening. Due diligence including preliminary fundamental investment analysis and valuation. Assume responsibility/provide key inputs for various aspects of the investment process including: detailed quantitative and qualitative investment analysis, presentation and documentation, approval, and closing. Communicate extensively with senior managers, credit committee members, and firm support staff, as well as interact with investment bankers, analysts, and other professional advisors. Portfolio monitoring and ongoing analysis.Required Qualifications
Applicants should be based in Kenya or another North African or Sub Saharan African Country relevant to the company’s work. Strong quantitative skills, detailed cash flow and financial modelling expertise. Polished and confident presentation and communication skills. Minimum of 2 years of investment banking experience (leveraged finance, M&A), corporate finance advisory or principal (buy-side) experience with a private equity or private debt fund. Undergraduate degree from a top-tier university with strong academic performance. Fluent English (written and spoken). Exposure to different cultures and the ability to work successfully with different nationalities. Ability to quickly distil core themes and ideas from large amounts of information. Strong Excel skills. Qualifying references.Valuable Qualifications
