Long Chain Construction Chemicals Ltd. (LCC) is a growing company specializing in paints, coatings, construction materials and construction chemicals.
As we expand our manufacturing and product-development capabilities, we are looking for a Laboratory Technician to support laboratory testing, formulation development, quality control and product performance evaluation.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Technical, Production and Quality Control teams to ensure that raw materials and finished products meet established quality and performance standards.
JOB SUMMARY
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting raw-material testing, laboratory trials, formulation testing, in-process testing and finished-product evaluation across LCC's range of paints and construction products.
The role will support both routine quality-control activities and formulation optimization and product development, requiring strong practical laboratory skills, attention to detail and accurate documentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Raw Material Testing
• Conduct laboratory testing and evaluation of incoming raw materials.
• Perform sampling and testing according to approved laboratory procedures.
• Verify raw materials against established specifications.
• Record and report test results accurately.
• Identify abnormal or non-conforming raw materials and escalate findings to the relevant technical or quality team.
2. Laboratory Trials & Formulation Development
• Conduct laboratory trials for new and existing products.
• Prepare laboratory batches and samples for technical evaluation.
• Support formulation development and optimization activities.
• Assist technical staff with formulation adjustments based on laboratory test results.
• Evaluate the effect of formulation changes on product performance and quality.
• Maintain accurate formulation and trial records.
3. Paint Testing
Conduct laboratory testing of paints and coatings, including relevant properties such as:
• Viscosity
• Fineness of grind
• Solids content
• Colour and appearance
• Consistency
• Other applicable physical and performance properties
• Prepare and compare laboratory samples against approved product standards.
• Support colour and formulation evaluation where required.
4. Construction Material Testing
Support laboratory testing and evaluation of LCC's construction-material products, including:
• Wall Putty
• Mortars
• Tile Adhesives
• Waterproofing Products
• Construction Chemicals
• Other related building-material products
• Conduct tests according to established company procedures and relevant technical standards.
• Record test results and highlight deviations from required specifications.
• Support product performance evaluation and improvement.
5. In-Process & Finished Product Testing
• Conduct quality testing of products during different stages of production.
• Test finished products before release.
• Compare test results against approved specifications.
• Identify quality deviations and promptly communicate findings.
• Support investigations into product-quality issues.
• Work with Production and Quality Control teams to resolve technical problems.
6. Laboratory Records & Documentation
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and test results.
• Maintain formulation, trial and product-development data.
• Ensure laboratory documentation is complete and up to date.
• Prepare basic laboratory reports when required.
• Maintain proper records of samples, tests and results.
• Ensure laboratory equipment and work areas are kept clean, organized and properly maintained.
7. Technical & Product Development Support
• Work closely with Technical, Production and Quality Control teams.
• Support the development and improvement of existing products.
• Assist with troubleshooting product-performance issues.
• Participate in laboratory evaluations of new raw materials and formulations.
• Provide accurate technical data to support product and quality decisions.
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Paint Technology, Building Materials or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant laboratory experience is preferred.
• Previous practical laboratory experience in paints, coatings, construction materials or construction chemicals is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of raw-material testing, laboratory trials and product-performance testing.
• Understanding of paint and construction-material formulations will be an advantage.
• Ability to conduct laboratory tests according to company procedures and technical standards.
• Ability to accurately record, analyze and report laboratory results.
• Good attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
• Ability to work closely with technical and production personnel.
• Good practical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
