The Opportunity:
We are seeking a visionary Pan-African Writer & Economic Analyst to spearhead our new flagship monthly newsletter. This is a high-impact, unpaid volunteer role designed for a highly motivated individual who wants to build a personal brand, establish themselves as a thought leader, and influence the narrative surrounding African investment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Editorial Leadership: Take full ownership of the end-to-end production of the monthly newsletter, from topic curation to final editorial sign-off.
- Economic Synthesis: Analyze recent policy shifts, macroeconomic trends, and major investment events across the continent.
- Strategic Research: Identify and summarize high-growth sectors (e.g., FinTech, Agri-business, Energy, Human Capital Development) to provide value to our readers.
- Brand Voice: Maintain a sophisticated, authoritative, and forward-looking tone that reflects Primer Africa’s mission.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Journalism, or International Relations (Master’s/Post-graduate degree preferred).
- Expertise: A deep understanding of the African economic landscape or a proven willingness to conduct rigorous independent research.
- Autonomy: Highly ambitious and capable of working with minimal supervision; you are someone who "takes charge" of a project.
- Writing Excellence: Ability to translate complex economic data into compelling, accessible English for a diverse audience of investors and policymakers.
Role Details:
- Type: Volunteer (Unpaid).
- Commitment: 6-month initial term to ensure editorial consistency.
- Workload: Remote; approximately 10–15 hours per month.
