Job Purpose
The machine operator is responsible for the high-precision operation, calibration, and routine maintenance of machinery used in the production of products. Ensures production processes run safely, efficiently, and reliably while maintaining strict quality standards. The role focuses on achieving accurate specifications, controlling dust and safety risks, and ensuring finished products are properly handled and stored to preserve their integrity for end clients.
Primary Responsibilities
- Configure and calibrate industrial machinery according to specific production blueprints and technical drawings for various product processing.
- Operate specialized cutting equipment to cut and shape sintered stone and metal rods to exact dimensions, ensuring tolerances within.
- Perform detailed manual and visual inspections of finished products using precision tools like to ensure "retail-ready" quality.
- Continuously monitor machine indicators (speed, pressure, and temperature) to identify deviations in consistency and cutting alignment.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings to execute custom orders for sintered stone slabs and metal framing components accurately.
- Proactively adjust machine settings to optimize cycle times, enhance finishing quality, and minimize expensive material scrap.
- Proactively identify and diagnose the root causes of mechanical or electrical equipment malfunction and execute immediate minor repairs and technical adjustments to restore operational status.
- Execute comprehensive daily maintenance schedules, including the meticulous deep cleaning and precision lubrication of internal machine components and moving parts.
- Safely operate specialized material handling equipment, including forklifts to efficiently move high-value, fragile, or heavy inventory around the warehouse. This requires strict adherence to rigging and weight distribution protocols to prevent structural damage to materials during transit and storage.
- Strictly adhere to OSH standards, specifically focusing on silica dust management and the mandatory use of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE).
- Ensure machines are consistently well-stocked with raw materials to prevent "dry-run" interruptions.
- Maintain precise production logs, tracking shift output, material waste, and generating reports on any mechanical malfunctions.
- Coordinate the organized offloading of containers and the secure loading of finished products onto delivery trucks.
- Partner with the production team and supervisors to ensure a seamless flow between the cutting, shaping, and packaging of the products.
- Participate in "Lean Manufacturing" initiatives to suggest process improvements that enhance efficiency and workstation safety.
- Maintain a highly organized, hazard-free work environment, ensuring all tools are secured and the floor is free of debris.
Secondary responsibilities.
- Communicate production concerns, machine wear-and-tear, or maintenance trends to the team leader to prevent future breakdowns.
- Identify and report any structural damages or utility issues (leaks, electrical faults) within the production area to ensure a safe work environment.
- Provide technical product insights to the sales or customer service teams when they require detailed information on material durability or specifications.
- Conduct practical machine safety and product awareness training for new staff and casual laborers to ensure operational consistency.
- Assist the quality control team in analyzing "reject" materials to identify if the issue is raw material quality or machine settings.
- Participate in the company’s emergency response or first-aid team (if trained) to assist during workplace incidents.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management to support the overall goals of the production department.
Requirements & Competencies
