ABOUT THE COMPANY

In 1998, CURE International, in cooperation with the African Inland Church, opened the AIC-CURE International Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya. Along with being CURE’s first hospital, CURE Kenya was Africa’s first orthopedic pediatric teaching hospital for children with disabilities. The 30-bed hospital provides care for children suffering from a wide range of orthopedic conditions, such as clubfoot, burn contractures, osteomyelitis, and other acquired or congenital conditions. The hospital also conducts mobile clinics to identify children in remote areas who can be treated at the hospital and to provide follow-up care for those who have received surgery.
Located in the Rift Valley city of Kijabe, the hospital attracts patients from every region of the country. Through the training of surgeons, nurses, and healthcare professionals, CURE Kenya aims to improve the country’s overall capacity to treat disabled children.

JOB SUMMARY

CURE International is seeking a Nurse Aid/Assistant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, provides hands-on care to patients admitted to the hospital.Maintains patient's stability by checking temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, height and weight.Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ calls and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to nursing on duty.Prepare, serve meals, and feed patients if necessary.Bathe and dress patients.Make beds and perform light housekeeping duties in the patient's room.Take patients for scheduled walks.Transport patients to/from operating rooms or other locations as necessary.Provide skin care.Set up equipment.Ensure that supply closets are stocked and cleaned.Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report abnormal patterns to nursing staff.Observe and record fluid intake and output.Develop nurturing relationships with patients and their families.Empty bedpans and change dirty linens.Report violent behavior.Follow proper procedures for lifting and moving patients. Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records

REQUIRED SKILLS

Surgery, Dressing patients with physical challenges, Cleaning and disinfecting equipment, First aid, Body mechanics and mobility, Documentation and record keeping, Pharmaceutical manufacturing

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Diploma, Associate's degree
