is an international child-centered
development organization. We are a member of the ChildFund Alliance; a
global network of 12 organizations that assists more than 15 million children
in 58 countries around the world. We work with partners in communities
throughout Asia, Africa, the Americas and the United States to change the
underlying conditions that prevent children from achieving their
potential. In Kenya, ChildFund works through 38 Local Partners comprising
of 51 Community Based Organizations spread across 26 Counties.
ChildFund Kenya is partnering with UNICEF and the Department of Children Services to operationalize the Siaya Child Protection Centre and strengthen community based child protection mechanisms in Siaya County. Under the management of the Department of Children Services the CPC when fully operational will provide centralised child protection services to children and coordinate appropriate referral.
ChildFund Kenya seeks to recruit the following staffs on 15 months fixed term contracts, to facilitate operationalization of the Siaya Child protection center. These positions will be based in Siaya County.
Outreach Child protection officer (1 Position)
Reporting to the Child protection coordinator, and working closely with the volunteer children officers and community child protection focal persons, the successful candidate will coordinate community access to CPC services and oversee activities of the community based child protection mechanisms.
Specific responsibilities
- Coordinate planned capacity building activities for community resource persons
- Oversee community mobilization working closely with volunteer children officers and community based resource persons
- Oversee implementation of planned community outreach activities
- Oversee community access to CPC services
- Undertake documentation of field activities and timely submission to the child protection coordinator
- Represent ChildFund at sub county level and below
Minimum qualifications:
- Diploma in community development /social work or in a related field
- 3 years’ work experience in a child protection field officer position
- Good understanding of child protection, case management and the child protection system in Kenya
- Excellent experience working with grass root communities
- Good report writing and networking skills
- Knowledge of the local language
