Job Description

Vihiga County whose headquarters is in Mbale is Located in the Western Region of Kenya. It boarders Nandi to the East, Kisumu County to the South, Siaya County to the West and KAKAMEGA County to the North. It is one of the four Counties in the former Western Province. Duties and responsibilities

Undertaking routine inspections of engines, gearboxes, hydraulics, electrical systems, tyres and frames; Dismantling and repairing or replacing faulty components; Reassembling and testing components to ensure they’re working safely; Keeping records of work done to machinery.

Requirements for Appointment

KCSE Mean Grade D Plain or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; Served for at least three years in the grade of plant mechanic II and be able to work in a busy environment.

OR

Passed occupation trade test IJ for plant mechanic; Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; Responsible for machinery inspections, preventative maintenance, machinery lubrication, installation and repair of plant industrial machinery; Coordinate with Plant Maintenance Planner, Supervisors and Predictive Maintenance personnel, Direct and perform all duties required to maintain extraction plant mechanical, auxiliary and miscellaneous equipment in an efficient operating condition by dismantling, inspecting and repairing and/or replacing worn out or damaged parts; Conduct daily maintenance activities such as adding oil, water, lubrication; Keeps the Maintenance Manager fully informed of unusual plant conditions and current job progress as the job relates to facility maintenance and projects.
