The Sales Engineer serves ATAD’s customers by identifying their needs and ensuring the fulfilment of customer requirements across the industrial and CNC machinery sectors. This role focuses on servicing the demand for advanced machinery tools, providing tailored technical solutions, and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with customers and suppliers.

The Sales Engineer actively drives and manages the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working as a key technical advisor and product advocate.
The role requires the ability to clearly articulate product capabilities and technical advantages to both business and technical audiences.
The ideal candidate will proactively identify and resolve all technical issues within assigned accounts to ensure complete customer satisfaction through every stage of the sales cycle.
Building and sustaining trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders is essential to achieving sales growth and ensuring customer success.
Expected Skill Set: In-depth knowledge of welding technology, welding processes, and power tools used in metal fabrication.
3+ years prior work experience in Sales / Business Development or related positions; Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences
Customer-centric mindset with the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously Advance MS Office skills
Duties & Responsibilities/Deliverables:
• Maximize income generation for ATAD by achieving and exceeding assigned sales targets within the East Africa region.
• Identify, plan, and establish contacts with new customers to expand ATAD’s market presence.
• Obtain and review relevant documentation and prepare accurate and competitive quotations and proposals.
• Coordinate all aspects of the sales process—from initial inquiry, quotation, and LPO issuance through to deal closure and after-sales follow-up.
• Lead the preparation and submission of RFPs, pre-qualifications, formal presentations, proposals, and contracts in line with customer requirements.
• Conduct follow-up visits with existing and prospective clients, providing weekly written reports on sales activities, project status, and market developments.
• Prepare and deliver effective technical presentations and demonstrations that clearly explain ATAD’s products, services, and value propositions.
• Participate in internal sales meetings to validate sales strategies, refine tactics, and plan next actions.
• Collect and report relevant market intelligence, including competitor activities, pricing.
• Identify opportunities for new product developments or enhancements and provide recommendations to management.
• Maintain strong, professional, and long-term relationships with clients, ensuring prompt and reliable service in all interactions.
• Contribute to the promotion of ATAD’s reputation for quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction in the machinery sector.
• Generate new project and business opportunities aligned with the company’s growth strategy and business objectives.
• Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities, customer needs, and potential risks in the East African market.
• Attend and represent ATAD professionally at networking events, trade exhibitions, and promotional activities to gather market insights and promote company products.
• Develop and maintain solid, long-term relationships with both new and existing customers, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and loyalty.
• Track, analyse, and report on potential markets, customer activities, and product performance.
• Ensure all customer communications and documentation adhere to ATAD’s quality, content, and format standards.
• Support knowledge transfer within the team by providing mentoring, coaching, and technical training as needed.
• Abide by ATAD’s Code of Conduct and uphold the company’s ethical and professional standards at all times.
• Implement and adhere to ATAD’s policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
Education:
Ideally bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering) or a related technical field.
Minimum of Diploma (Mechanical Engineering)
Relevant certifications and additional training in conventional /laser welding technology and power tools are an advantage.
