Job Summary
The Production Assistant Manager will ensure the implementation of work plans for crop production and cultural practices within the stipulated timeframes, as well assist in the oversight of the work of production supervisors and senior supervisors. The production Assistant Manager will work under the Production Manager.

Job Description/Requirements
- Assist the production manager in the implementation of all activities relating to roses production including but not limited to the following:
- Provide an oversight role for the activities/performance of production supervisors and senior supervisors;
- In conjunction with the production manager, complete weekly and annual performance appraisals for all supervisors and senior supervisors and discuss the same with the managing director,
- Regular Monitoring of the crop to evaluate crop cultural practices and crop health status with regard to pests, Diseases, and Crop Nutrition,
- Confirm daily attendance of workers and ensure reporting times and stipulated working hours are adhered to,
- Oversee the supervisors and senior supervisors to ensure the quality standards are adhered to.
- In liaison with the production manager prepare work plans for crop cultural practices and ensure implementation of the same within stipulated timeframes,
- Ensure that all crop husbandries i.e., land preparation, planting, weeding, irrigation and spraying etc. are done to the highest possible standard.
- Review and/or review production forecast per variety and submit to the production manager while doing a follow-up to confirm all picking predictions done.
- Follow up with scouting to ensure pest and diseases are identified at early stages
- Participate and contribute in the preparation of crop protection plans including monitoring and pesticide application programs (Flowers).
- Ensure Harvesting is done according to the company policy and set procedure in place,
- Ensuring netting and transportation is done in a good, timely manner, ensuring roses reach the pack house in time and without damages.
- Ensure that produce is picked on time, handled carefully and is of high quality in accordance with the standards.
- Co-ordinate produce shading and transport to the packhouse (Flowers).
- Communicate with packhouse daily and make regular visit to confirm quality issues
- Undertake all necessary documentation and records as shall be required,
- Responsible for the health and safety of employees working under your supervision.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the management
JOB SPECIFICATION
1. Degree in Floriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, and/or Agriculture Sciences.
2. Working experience in commercial flower farming and have at least six (6) years of working experience in horticulture production including new crop establishment, general crop husbandry, and crop protection.
3. Of the six (6) years’ experience, atleast two (2) years must have been at senior supervisor/assistant manager level.
4. The ideal candidate must in addition have post-harvest experience including harvesting, cooling, grading, packaging, and shipping of flowers.
5. Experience in Integrated Pest Management.

- Strong people management skills, Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
- Must be a good communicator, good problem-solving skills and a team player
- Proficiency in record keeping, data analysis and computer skills.
