Job Title: Production Manager
Job Purpose: The Production Manager is responsible for the high-precision setup, calibration, operation, and routine maintenance of machinery used in the cutting of granite & sintered stone slabs and forming of stud channels & rail channels.
The role ensures that production processes run safely, efficiently, and reliably while maintaining strict quality standards. The Production Manager must ensure finished products meet exact dimensional specifications, are handled safely, and are stored properly to preserve their integrity for end clients.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set up, align, measure, and calibrate machines according to approved production specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Safely operate and monitor granite and sintered stone cutting machines, including blade alignment, water cooling system management and cutting accuracy and tolerance control
- Operate roll forming machines for the production of stud channels and rail channels, including feeding raw materials, adjusting rollers and ensuring correct profile output and dimensional accuracy
- Continuously monitor machine indicators (speed, pressure, temperature) and adjust settings to maintain consistency and minimize material waste.
- Conduct manual and visual inspections of finished products to ensure required dimensions, structural integrity, and quality standards are achieved.
- Perform routine maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, part adjustments, and early fault detection.
- Identify mechanical faults promptly, conduct minor repairs where applicable, and report major technical issues to maintenance personnel.
- Safely operate lifting equipment including forklifts for loading, unloading, and moving granite slabs, sintered stone, stud channels, and rail channels within the warehouse and production area.
- Ensure proper weight distribution and safe handling procedures when moving fragile or heavy materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace, including proper arrangement and labelling of raw materials and finished products.
- Ensure machines are consistently supplied with raw materials to prevent production downtime.
- Maintain accurate production logs including output, material usage, downtime, and mechanical issues.
- Coordinate container offloading and loading of finished products onto delivery trucks.
- Meet daily and shift production targets while maintaining strict safety compliance and minimizing downtime.
- Strictly adhere to warehouse and production safety protocols.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve production efficiency and workplace safety.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Communicate machine wear, maintenance trends, and production concerns to supervisors.
- Assist the quality control team in analyzing rejected materials to determine whether issues arise from raw materials or machine settings.
- Provide technical insight on product specifications (granite, sintered stone, stud & rail channels) when required by sales or customer service teams.
- Support practical machine safety training for new employees and casual workers.
- Participate in emergency response or first-aid teams (if trained).
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management to support production goals.
Requirements & Competencies
- Degree or Diploma in Production or Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience operating:
- Granite cutting machines
- Roll forming machines
- Industrial production equipment
- Competency in safely operating forklifts and lifting equipment.
- Strong knowledge of raw materials and finished products including granite, sintered stone, stud channels, and rail channels.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools and interpreting technical drawings.
- Ability to measure, align, and calibrate machines accurately.
- Strong understanding of basic mechanical tools and production maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to workplace safety.
