Job Purpose
Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of their client in the Food export industry is seeking an experienced
Production Supervisor. The Production Supervisor will oversee production activities in the
packhouse/processing area. The Production Supervisor will ensure that daily production targets are
met while maintaining compliance with food safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The ideal
candidate will supervise production teams, coordinate processes, and assist the Packhouse Manager in
ensuring smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise day-to-day production and packhouse activities to meet production schedules and
targets.
• Allocate tasks and monitor staff performance to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Support implementation of quality control systems and ensure compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP/GMP).
• Assist in receiving, inspection, and staging of raw produce in line with production plans.
• Conduct regular quality checks throughout production to ensure products meet customer and regulatory expectations.
• Train, coach, and mentor production staff on procedures, safety, and quality practices.
• Ensure efficient use of materials to reduce waste and optimise production costs.
• Maintain production equipment and coordinate basic preventive maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Prepare daily production reports and maintain accurate production records.
• Enforce workplace safety and hygiene practices in line with company policy.
Qualifications
✓ Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science & Technology, Agriculture, Horticulture, or
related field.
✓ Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in production supervision, preferably in fresh
produce, packhouse, or food processing.
✓ Knowledge of food safety standards and production best practices (HACCP, GMP, GlobalG.A.P.
desirable).
✓ Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
✓ Good analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
✓ Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
