Production Technician
Job summary
The role involves hands-on operation, monitoring, and adjustment of food processing machinery to meet production targets while maintaining quality, safety, and hygiene standards. The technician/operator is responsible for basic machine maintenance, fault diagnosis, record-keeping, and timely escalation of complex issues.

Key Responsibilities
1. Processing Operations (Hands-on)
· Operate, monitor, and adjust food processing machinery (peanut shelling, roasting, milling, packaging, and related equipment).
· Actively participate in hands-on processing activities, including raw material preparation, processing, and packaging.
· Set machine parameters (temperature, speed, pressure, grind size, etc.) to meet product quality specifications.
· Monitor processing flows to ensure efficiency, consistency, and minimal downtime.
· Ensure production targets are met while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
2. Technical & Maintenance Responsibilities
· Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, or operational faults in production machines.
· Perform routine machine checks, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
· Escalate complex technical issues to supervisors or external technicians in a timely manner.
· Maintain accurate records of machine performance, faults, and maintenance activities.
3. Quality, Safety & Hygiene
· Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards at all times.
· Support quality control checks during production to ensure consistency and compliance.
· Report any deviations, breakdowns, or safety risks immediately.
4. Team & Operations Support
· Work closely with the Production Officer and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
· Support training of team members on machine use and safety where required.
· Contribute ideas for improving efficiency, reducing downtime, and minimizing waste.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
· Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, Food Processing, or a related technical field.
· Strong hands-on experience as a technician/operator in a manufacturing or processing environment.
· Demonstrated ability to operate processing machinery and diagnose technical and mechanical challenges.
· Practical understanding of food processing operations and production workflows.
· Basic electrical, mechanical, and process control knowledge.
Added Advantage
· Experience in food manufacturing, agro-processing, or SME-scale production.
· Experience working in a factory set-up.
· Ability to fabricate, modify, or locally improvise simple machine solutions.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
· Excellent hands-on processing and machine operation skills.
· Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve machine and process-related issues.
· Good understanding of food processing hygiene, safety, and quality requirements.
