BRAC Kenya Company Limited (BKCL) is the newest addition to BRAC’s financial services portfolio. Fully owned by BRAC International Holdings B.V. (BIHBV), BKCL was incorporated in February 2024 and licensed as a Digital Credit Provider by the Central Bank of Kenya in June 2025. BKCL’s mission is to provide a range of financial services responsibly to people at the bottom of the pyramid, with a particular focus on empowering women living in poverty in rural and hard-to-reach areas by creating self-employment opportunities, building financial resilience, and harnessing their entrepreneurial spirit.
In line with its mission, BKCL’s credit offerings will include group-based microloans for women and small enterprise loans for entrepreneurs, with plans to introduce tailored solutions for rural smallholder farmers and youth. BKCL adheres to the Universal Standards for Social and Environmental Performance Management (USSEPM) and Client Protection Standards, ensuring clients’ well-being remains at the centre of everything it does to achieve its mission.
About the role
To lead and oversee all finance and accounting operations within the assigned region, ensuring effective financial management, accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and optimal utilization of financial resources across the region, Area and all branch offices under its jurisdiction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounts Supervision
Supervise and take full ownership of the work of all accountants across Regions, Areas, and Branches, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organisational accounting standards.
2. Resolution of Irregularities
Follow up on all irregularities escalated by Area Accounts Managers, ensuring each issue is investigated promptly and brought to a documented resolution.
3. Branch Compliance Checks
Conduct surprise checks during branch visits to verify that Branch Accountants and Area Accounts Managers are properly discharging their responsibilities.
4. Performance Review
Participate in periodic performance reviews to assess effectiveness against role objectives and identify areas for development.
5. Procurement Oversight
Sit on the Regional Procurement Committee, contributing financial oversight to procurement decisions made at the field level.
6. Country Office Liaison
Maintain effective coordination between the Country Office and field-level operations to ensure consistent application of financial policy and reporting.
7. Transaction Review
Review all financial transactions processed at Branch and Area Office level to confirm accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
8. Bank Reconciliation
Prepare regional office reconciliations and review Branch and Area offices reconciliations regularly to detect discrepancies and ensure prompt corrective actions are taken.
9. Risk-Based Branch Visits
Plan branch visits according to assessed risk rather than a fixed schedule, prioritising branches with higher exposure or known issues.
10. Incident Escalation
Report any identified irregularities to the Manager Field Operations, accounts &finance to enable timely corrective action.
11. Performance Assessment of Area Accounts Managers
Evaluate the performance of Area Accounts Managers against the control activities assigned to them, providing structured feedback.
12. Team Supervision & Development
- Supervise and mentor staff, ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with set standards.
- Support the onboarding and training of new finance team members in the region to build team capability and ensure operational continuity.
13. Safeguarding Responsibilities
Ensure the safety of team members from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation in support of the programme's safeguarding goals. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding matters, and help establish a safe working environment. Actively practise, promote, and endorse the safeguarding policy among team members, ensuring its standards are embedded in every course of action. Follow the established safeguarding reporting procedure whenever a reportable incident occurs, and encourage others to do likewise
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance or a related.
- Professional certification such as CPA/ ACCA, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
- 3+ years’ experience in supervision of business units
- Experience in the financial services sector is an added advantage.

- Knowledge of relevant regulatory, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills.
- Good problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
