Job Title: Sales Manager – Export Markets (Southern Africa & Indian Ocean Islands)

Our client is a leading provider of advanced drainage and water management solutions.
They specialize in designing and delivering innovative systems for wastewater treatment and water treatment applications.
They are seeking a Sales Manager – Export Markets (Southern Africa & Indian Ocean Islands) who will drive commercial growth across Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands, developing new business opportunities, managing distributor and key client relationships, and leveraging technical expertise to support regional market expansion.
The ideal candidate combines strong sales capability, market development experience, and the ability to communicate technical concepts confidently.
Key Responsibilities
Export Market Development


  • Develop and execute business development strategies for Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.
  • Identify new business opportunities, partners, distributors, and project prospects across the region.
  • Conduct detailed market research on competitors, pricing, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.


Sales & Relationship Management


  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with distributors, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Promote and demonstrate ACO products with a strong focus on technical differentiation and value engineering.
  • Drive specification work with engineers and architects across target markets.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and secure orders in line with regional sales targets.


Technical & Product Expertise


  • Understand client and project requirements to propose suitable drainage and water management solutions.
  • Stay informed on product innovations, standards, and evolving technical requirements in the region.
  • Provide product training to partners and clients (virtual and in-person).


Strategic Planning & Reporting


  • Prepare regional development plans aligned with ACO’s export strategy.
  • Monitor performance, analyse KPIs, and produce regular reports on market development and sales pipeline.
  • Provide strategic feedback to management on market needs, risks, and growth opportunities.


Collaboration & Support


  • Work closely with the ACO Kenya head office and international teams to align go-to-market strategies.
  • Support customer service, logistics, and aftersales processes for export clients.
  • Coordinate marketing initiatives and regional events, exhibitions, and trainings.


Must Have Qualifications & Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical preferred).
  • Proven experience in business development or export sales, ideally in construction materials or building systems.
  • Strong understanding of B2B project-based sales.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to travel frequently across the region.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with drainage, water treatment, or infrastructure-related products.
  • Experience managing distributors across multiple countries.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
