ABOUT THE COMPANY
The Insurance Regulatory Authority is a statutory government agency established under the Insurance Act (Amendment) 2006, CAP 487 of the Laws of Kenya to regulate, supervise and develop the insurance industry. It is governed by a Board of Directors which is vested with the fiduciary responsibility of overseeing operations of the Authority and ensuring that they are consistent with provisions of the Insurance Act.
JOB SUMMARY
Job PurposeTo assist in the provision of security services to safeguard the Authority’s personnel, property, information, and assets in line with established security standards.Person SpecificationsFor appointment to this grade, an officer must have:i. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (minus) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.ii. Certificate in Security Management / Related field from a recognized institution.iii. Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience in security duties.iv. Good interpersonal and communication skills.v. Physical fitness and ability to stand and patrol for prolonged periods.Competencies and Skillsi. Observation skillsii. Conflict management skillsiii. RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Duties and Responsibilitiesi. Controlling access to the Authority’s premises and facilities.ii. Monitoring and patrolling the Authority’s grounds, buildings and property to detect and deter security breaches.iii. Conducting security searches of visitors, staff and property as may be required.iv. Responding to security alarms and emergencies.v. Reporting and documenting security incidents, breaches and losses.vi. Assisting in enforcement of safety and security procedures.vii. Maintaining security equipment and logs.viii. Coordinating with law enforcement and external security agencies when necessary.ix.
