This Job is located at Watamu, The candidate will provide insights into financial performance, including variance analysis, to HODs on efficient cost management based on generated reports

Job Description/Requirements


• Accurately review reconciliations of bank transactions, petty cash, cheque and credit card transactions and approve work from other members of the team

• Conduct regular balance sheet reconciliations, including maintenance of accruals and prepayment schedules, to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies

• Support the FM in timely weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting through preparation and review of month-end procedures, including posting journals for accurate reporting

• Support the FM in the annual budgeting and forecasting process

• Provide insights into financial performance, including variance analysis, to HODs on efficient cost management based on generated reports

• Monthly tax filing, including preparation of tax schedules for filing of taxes, ensuring timely tax payments and proper tax accounting

• Oversee supplier reconciliations and assist in execution where necessary

• Perform Income Audit functions as required

• Take on complex tasks for example, ones that require amendments to accounting systems

• Continuous maintenance and improvement of standard operating procedures

• Must be able to handle using multiple cloud accounting applications, including the ability to learn new accounting systems

• Handle operational matters as required


Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance from a reputable university

• Proven experience in managing a bookkeeping team

• Minimum of 5 years  experience in hospitality accounting or a similar role in a busy environment

• Must be a member of ICPAK

• Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures

• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports

• High degree of accuracy especially with data entry

• Microsoft Excel and Word 

• Income Audit experience, preferably with Opera

• Basic IFRS and USALI knowledge

• Willingness to relocate to Watamu
