Job Purpose
Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of their client in the IT industry is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Development and Security Operations Engineer plays a critical role in overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of IT development and security protocols across organizational systems and networks. The role integrates responsibilities from DevOps, system operations, level 2 support, and cybersecurity, ensuring the IT infrastructure is secure, scalable, and efficient. The Senior Engineer will provide guidance, foster professional growth, and ensure team alignment with organizational goals and security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with software development teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable
and secure systems.
• Develop, test, and deploy applications, ensuring adherence to company requirements and
industry standards.
• Monitor and optimize system performance and reliability. 4. Document IT systems, processes,
and changes comprehensively.
• Monitor and manage security tools and infrastructure to detect, prevent, and respond to
security threats.
• Perform regular security assessments, including vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
• Implement security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and data protection controls.
• Ensure compliance with relevant security policies, standards, and regulations.
• Lead incident response activities, including investigating security breaches and implementing
corrective actions.
• Maintain secure and efficient CI/CD pipelines for application deployment.
• Collaborate with IT infrastructure and network teams to ensure systems are secure and
efficient.
• Provide technical guidance to development teams on secure coding practices.
• Provide training sessions for the Infrastructure Squad on compliance requirements, monitoring tools, and best practices.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to enhance the team's capabilities.
• Mentor other Junior Resources.
• Train staff on security awareness and best practices.
Qualifications
✓ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related
field.
✓ Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Solutions
Architect) are an advantage.
✓ At least 3 years of Similar Role.
✓ A deep understanding of Systems, Servers and Programming Language
✓ Proven experience in IT development and/or security operations.
✓ Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or
Azure DevOps.
✓ Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus
solutions).
✓ Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
✓ Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization tools (Docker,
Kubernetes).
✓ Experience with system monitoring tools and log management platforms.
✓ Familiarity with data privacy laws and security compliance standards like GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIST.
