Company Description:
High-quality ISP looking to launch FTTO and FTTH services built for modern homes and offices.
Role Description:
We are seeking an experienced ISP Engineer with proven success in obtaining ISP licenses with the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK), and developing, implementing detailed network plans.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing licensing applications to CAK under the Unified Licensing Framework (ULF).
- Creating a comprehensive network plan and rollout plan tailored for local markets.
- Planning IP addressing, ASN setup, and peering arrangements.
- Advising on local government permits and wayleave approvals (county permits, rights-of-way).
- Designing the network architecture and equipment requirements.
- Providing regulatory, technical, and operational recommendations to support ISP growth.
- Preparing documentation to maintain compliance with any regulatory reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar field.
- 3 to 5+ years of experience working with ISP licensing and deployment.
- Demonstrated success in securing ISP licenses; understanding of ASP, NFP (Tier 2/3).
- Strong expertise in Mikrotik router configurations and broadband technologies (fiber, VLANs, OLT/ONU management).
- Good knowledge of network planning and design, IP routing, BGP, and AS numbers.
- Ability to compose strong technical and regulatory documentation.
- Experience working with AFRINIC and KIXP or similar.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
Location & Job Type:
- Nairobi, Kenya
- Contract initially, with potential to move to full-time as the company expands.
