Job Summary
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Shift Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the whole plant. This involves coordinating between different departments, overseeing maintenance activities, and ensuring equipment and processes meet production, quality and safety standards.

Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee and ensure timely completion of all equipment, repairs and maintenance activities.
2. Diagnose and troubleshoot plant machinery issues to minimise production downtime.
3. Monitor performance and reliability of critical facilities and production plants such as, boilers, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Fuel Handling Systems (FHS), Dust Extraction Systems (DES), Water Treatment Plant (WTP), chillers, cooling towers, compressors, refinery, tank farm, soap plant, oil filing, fats plant.
4. Apply knowledge of engineering principles in the design of plant equipment and piping systems.
5. Interprets and develops Process Flow Diagrams, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Data Sheets.
6. Provide technical input in equipment selection, procurement of parts and spare management.
7. Support operators and maintenance teams in troubleshooting plant equipment issues.
8. Report maintenance problems, safety hazards and issues relating to production and maintenance.
9. Receive, record and inspect all incoming spares and equipment, ensuring adherence to required specifications and quality.
10. Take ownership of personal training plans, with support from management.
11. Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across plant operations.
Qualifications
· Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in edible oil refining, soap manufacturing, or related FMCG processing and packaging industries.
Key Skills and Competencies
· Strong background knowledge in mechanical and process engineering.
· Skilled in preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance methods.
· Able to make sound and timely decisions under pressure, including diagnosing and resolving technical problems.
· Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA, ISO, and HACCP
· Capable of overseeing engineering projects, equipment upgrades and process improvements.
· Capable leadership and team management skills, supervising and providing guidance to maintenance and production teams.
