ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Embassy is an integral part of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and therefore shares the same overall objectives and the same visions, mission and values as the rest of the organisation.
The Embassy is accredited to represent Denmark in the areas of foreign policy and foreign economic and commercial relations as regards to the Republic of Kenya. The embassy also has the responsibility for overseeing relations in Somalia, Seychelles and Eritrea.

This is a possibility to work with experienced colleagues in a multicultural environment.Job descriptionAt the Regional Visa Hub in Nairobi, you will be part of a team with currently 14 colleagues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Main responsibilitiesDaily case processing of applications for Schengen visas You will be making decisions in Schengen visa casesShow great thoroughness and responsibility in your workEnsuring compliance with the Schengen visa rules and Danish Visa GuidelinesParticipate in relevant seminars and courses in Copenhagen, video conferences and regional meetings.You will refer to the Team Leader of the Visa and Consular Team at the Regional Visa Hub at the Embassy in NairobiAbout you:Applicant has to be a national of an EU / Schengen countryExperience with visa processing and the Schengen rules is an advantageFluency in written and spoken English is a necessity. Knowledge of Nordic languages will be an advantage Experience with public administration Sound judgement abilities and great attention to detailsKnowledge of working across cultures is an advantageRobustness and ability to handle stressful situations in a competent and calm mannerEmphasis on thoroughness and ability to interact with the applicants and partners in a service-minded mannerStrong cross cultural understanding and good social skillsStrong IT skills as all processing is done electronicallyWe offerA permanent position in an international and dynamic environment, where we value delegation of tasks and responsibilities, openness, independence and have a minimum of hierarchy. Contract terms depending on residence status in Kenya with possibility of either local employment as per the Embassy staff rules or consultancy basis.
