Deworm the World Initiative (DtWI) actively supports the scale-up of school-based deworming programs worldwide to improve children’s health, education, and long-term development.
Dispensers for Safe Water is an entrepreneurial program scaling the chlorine dispenser system – a proven innovation that dramatically expands access to water treatment at an extremely low cost.
DtWI provides technical assistance to the National School-Based Deworming Programme (NSBDP), which is implemented by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) in 28 Counties and 143 Sub-Counties across Kenya.
In the first year of the Programme (2012-2013), 5.9 million children were dewormed in over 13,000 schools in Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley, Coast and parts of Central regions.
We are looking for a dynamic, engaged individual to join our team as an Associate, Implementation Logistics working within organization’s Programme Implementation team. The successful candidate will have a passion for logistics and driven by a mission to offer cost effective solutions and timely
support for implementation of the NSBDP.

Job Purpose: To coordinate supply and team logistics for the National School-Based Deworming Programme.
This role works very closely with the team members (Programme Associate: Supply chain, Programme Associate; Budgeting and Costing, Programme Associate: Cascade Implementation, Procurement, and Finance and Administration) to ensure successful delivery of programme supplies and teams to the field and that the field teams are sufficiently supported logistically to deliver trainings and deworming days.
Description of Duties

Transportation and Travel:
•Engage a transporter identified by the procurement team to deliver training materials and tablet poles to the field
•Work with an appointed MoH official in organizing transport and accompaniment for drugs to regional KEMSA depots
•Create and manage customized transport and logistical itineraries for delivery of programme materials, master trainers and drugs to districts
•Liaise with the programme coordination team to ensure the decisions for movement of materials drugs and people to programme sites is both efficient and timely
•In liaison with the training team, develop and communicate both inter and intra district movements for programme trainers optimizing partner relationships to bring about efficiency and cost-savings from the national to the school level in liaison with the larger DtWI Team
•Work with the procurement team in identifying programme vendors with the goal of ensuring listed vendors meet the requirements of efficient programme delivery
•Engage and monitor programme transport vendors to deliver training materials, tablet poles, programme trainers, and other related programme deliverables to the right programme sites
•Maintain healthy relationships with vendors and service providers such as transport companies, hotels, training venues and other vendors relevant to Programme Implementation
•Initiate and manage all programme communications relating to movement of materials, drugs and trainers to programme districts
•Support the procurement team in the purchase of programme promotional materials e.g. banners, fliers, T-shirts, bags etc.
•Programme support:
•Contribute to review of training materials at all stages of implementation and provide input related to programme logistics
•Support in the planning and execution of events to advocate on behalf of the program or to advance its mission such as Annual Programme Review
•Participate in programme strategy development meetings and contribute logistical implications of proposed decisions
•Consolidate and continuously update observations and lessons learned from all logistics activities and share with the broader DtWI team for programme improvement and for donor reporting
•Participate in the planning and execution of programme training activities and meetings

Required Qualifications

Professional qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree, preferably in logistics or supply chain management or Business Administration or any other related field from a recognized university. Masters in the field is relevant.
Relevant Experience and Key skills:
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in coordinating logistical components of a large or fast passed project/programme
•Experience working with local or international NGO
