JOB SUMMARY
About the role:Our client is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Account Assistant with solid accounting experience to support the finance function. The role involves financial reconciliations, payroll processing, statutory compliance, inventory control, and general accounting and administrative support in line with Kenyan regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities1. Financial ReconciliationsPerform daily and monthly reconciliations of cash, bank accounts, M-Pesa, and other mobile money transactions.Reconcile POS/PDQ transactions daily and monthly, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances.2. Petty Cash ManagementManage petty cash disbursements, documentation, and reconciliations in line with internal controls.3. Payroll & Statutory CompliancePrepare and process monthly payroll, ensuring salaries are paid by the 25th of every month.Compute and remit statutory deductions accurately and on time, including PAYE, NSSF, NHIF/SHA.4. Sales Commission AdministrationPrepare monthly sales commission reports and ensure payments are processed by the 15th of each month.5. Stock & Inventory ControlConduct monthly stock-taking for all shops and reconcile physical stock with system records.6. Accounting, Tax & Audit SupportAssist in preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.Support KRA tax compliance, including VAT schedules, PAYE workings, and iTax support.Assist during internal and external audits.7. Administrative & Office SupportPerform general administrative duties including data entry, filing, and record management.Support smooth office operations and maintain organized financial records.Qualifications & ExperienceDiploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldCPA (Part I or II) or ACCA qualification is an added advantageMinimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience in an accounting or finance roleStrong knowledge of Kenyan statutory and tax requirementsExperience with KRA iTax, payroll systems, M-Pesa, and POS reconciliationsProficiency in MS Excel and accounting softwareHigh level of accuracy, integrity, and ability to meet deadlines
