Job descriptions & requirements
1. Financial Reporting & General Ledger Management
- Financial Oversight: Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger (GL) by overseeing journal entries, bank reconciliations, and the month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Statement Preparation: Prepare and present comprehensive financial statements, including Profit & Loss (P&L), Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements in strict accordance with IFRS or GAAP standards.
- Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy of all financial records through rigorous internal audits and reconciliation protocols.
2. Operational Cost & Management Accounting
- Cost Analysis: Monitor and analyse high-impact operational expenses, specifically fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance logs, and third-party disposal fees.
- Waste Metrics Reconciliation: Perform specialized "tonnage file" audits by reconciling disposal invoices against monthly operational waste data to ensure billing precision.
- Efficiency Reporting: Provide management with actionable insights on cost-saving opportunities within the supply chain and logistics functions.
3. Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Tax Administration: Manage the end-to-end filing and remittance of statutory taxes, including VAT, Corporate Tax, and industry-specific levies
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all financial activities comply with environmental regulations and local statutory requirements to mitigate legal risks.
4. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Internal Controls
- Strategic Planning: Facilitate the development of annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts to support organizational growth.
- Variance Analysis: Execute regular variance reporting to identify discrepancies between actual expenditure and budgeted allocations, recommending corrective actions where necessary.
- Financial Controls (KFCs): Design, implement, and monitor Key Financial Controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraudulent activities.
5. Revenue & Receivable Management
- Billing Excellence: Supervise the invoicing cycle for municipal, commercial, and industrial clients, ensuring timely revenue collection.
- Commodity Revenue Tracking: Monitor and document income streams derived from the sale of recyclables and secondary raw materials.
6. Asset Management & Payroll Administration
- Asset Lifecycle Management: Maintain a detailed Fixed Asset Register for heavy machinery and fleet vehicles, overseeing depreciation schedules and capital expenditure (CAPEX) modifications.
- Payroll Oversight: Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring the accurate calculation of wages, statutory deductions, and employee benefits.
Systems Optimization: Lead the implementation and optimization of
financial software (e.g., QuickBooks or ERP systems) to enhance departmental
efficiency.
