Job Description/Requirements
- Posting of financial transactions (journals, ledgers, sub-ledgers) and maintaining the general
- ledger accurately.
- Monthly reconciliations: bank, supplier, inter-company, inventory and other relevant ledgers.
- Inventory accounting: record receipts, issues, movements; prepare stock adjustments; reconcile physical vs system stock.
- Cost accounting: capture manufacturing costs (raw materials, labour, overheads), analyse variances, value work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods.
- Stock control: undertake regular stock counts, reconcile variances, liaise with warehouse/production to investigate losses or discrepancies.
- Demand planning & forecasting: assist in preparing production demand forecasts, liaise with Sales & Marketing, production/materials teams to project raw material, packaging and finished goods needs.
- Financial and operations projections: assist in preparing budget forecasts, short-term projections (monthly/quarterly) and cost/revenue models. Accounts receivable & bank reconciliation: manage customer invoicing, receipt posting, aged debtor analysis, follow-up on outstanding balances; reconcile bank statements, ensure accurate posting of bank transactions.
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual close processes; prepare management reports for Chief
- Accountant with commentary and analysis.
- Collaborate with production, purchasing, warehousing and materials teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and inventory control.
- Ensure compliance with company internal control policies and relevant accounting standards; support internal/external audits by providing schedules and explanations.
- Use accounting/ERP software and advanced Excel tools to analyse data, prepare management dashboards, cost reports and trending.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Professional qualification preferred (CPA (K), ACCA or equivalent).
- Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably FMCG or sanitary/personal care) handling inventory, cost accounting, stock control, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) and proficiency with accounting/ERP
- systems.
- Ability to work cross-functionally (production, materials, warehouse) and communicate with non-finance staff. Good analytical, organisational and inter-personal skills; attention to detail; ability to meet
- deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Based in/able to work at the specific location (Thika or Nairobi – Mombasa Road).
