Job Summary

Our client, an FMCG company located in Nairobi is seeking to fill the position of an Accounts Assistant who will assist the company keep proper financial records whilst assisting in other duties and ultimately enabling the company to meet its objectives.

  • Minimum Qualification: Certificate
  • Experience Level: Mid level
  • Experience Length: 2 years

Job Description/Requirements

SALARY RANGE: 30-40K

Requirements:

•        Must have Working Knowledge of online/ computerized accounting.

•        A minimum of C+ (plus) in KCSE.

•        Must have a CPA 2 qualification.

•        Proficient in ICT.

•        At least 2 years of relevant working experience in a similar position

•        Team player with excellent communication skills.

•        Attention to detail, problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills.

•        High standards of ethics and values.

Duties and responsibilities:

•        Verifying vouchers and committal documents in accordance with laid down rules and regulations.

•        Generating of clients’ invoices and assessment notices for prompt dispatch.

•        Working with spreadsheets, sales and purchase ledgers and journals.

•        Recording and filing cash transactions.

•        Controlling credit and chasing debt.

•        Reconciling debtors and creditors registers on a monthly basis.

•        Bank reconciliation.

•        Liaising with third party providers, clients and suppliers.

•        Undertaking monthly bank reconciliation and advise on outstanding/uncleared effects.

•        Documentation & maintenance of proper and updated records of all Fixed Assets in the company.

•        Posting receipts and payments cash book.

•        Maintain general ledger accounts and preparing journal entries.

•        Maintaining cheque payments and cheque Inward/receipts register ensuring completeness, dispatch, cancelled cheques etc.

•        Maintaining Finance document movement register and recording of correspondence, requests from other department and payments instructions.

•        Support Auditor in conducting internal and external audits.

•        Responsible for timely reconciliation and filing of all monthly statutory remittances (VAT, payroll related, WHT).

•        Assist in tax preparation and filing activities.

•        Follow documentation retention policy to maintain accounting files.

•        Perform accounting analyses and reporting to support decision-making purposes. 

•        Any other duties as may be assigned by the Management from time to time.
