Role Summary


The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) is seeking a dynamic, analytical, and digitally savvy Assistant Regional Manager to support its Sub-Saharan Africa operations. This role plays a critical part in strengthening the presence and demand for Malaysian palm oil across the region through market intelligence, stakeholder engagement, and active management of MPOC’s regional digital and social media platforms.


Success in this role will be defined by the ability to generate actionable market insights, support impactful marketing programmes, and effectively manage social media platforms to enhance MPOC’s visibility, engagement, and brand positioning across Sub-Saharan Africa. The position works closely with the Regional Manager and contributes directly to MPOC’s regional market development strategy.


Responsibilities


  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities and trends in the Sub-Saharan African palm oil market
  • Monitor supply and demand dynamics, pricing movements, and import policies across key markets
  • Gather and analyse industry data from multiple sources to generate insights and support strategic decision-making
  • Prepare regular market intelligence reports and updates for internal stakeholders
  • Support the planning and execution of marketing programmes, including seminars, workshops, and stakeholder engagements
  • Manage and oversee MPOC-SSA social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), including content coordination, scheduling, and performance monitoring
  • Work closely with appointed agencies to develop engaging, regionally relevant digital content aligned with MPOC’s brand and communication strategy
  • Monitor social media performance metrics (reach, engagement, growth) and provide insights for optimisation
  • Support digital campaigns, influencer collaborations, and online engagement initiatives to strengthen MPOC’s regional presence
  • Collaborate with internal teams and regional offices to ensure alignment of market development and communication activities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, including government agencies, importers, and manufacturers
  • Track developments in the edible oils and fats sector, including competing oils
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as required by management


Qualifications & Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret market data and trends
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools
  • Experience or strong interest in social media management, digital marketing, or content strategy is highly desirable
  • Knowledge or interest in the palm oil or edible oils industry is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Sub-Saharan Africa
