Our client a law firm seeks to recruit for an in Nairobi, Kenya.
Associate (Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution)Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Courtroom Advocacy & Complex Litigation
- Lead and manage high-value civil and commercial litigation files before the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, and specialized statutory tribunals.
- Formulate bulletproof trial strategies for intricate cross-border conflicts, tax/regulatory showdowns, and restructuring/insolvency matters.
- Conduct exhaustive legal research and draft masterful pleadings, appellate submissions, and chamber documents to elite international standards.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Expertise
- Serve as counsel in domestic and international arbitrations, mediations, and complex negotiations.
- Draft enforceable settlement agreements, parse complex arbitral clauses, and advise corporate clients on strategic ADR interventions to mitigate protracted court risk.
- Leverage institutional knowledge of frameworks like the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb Kenya) or Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA) to resolve high-stakes commercial disputes.
- Strategic Debt Collection & Asset Recovery
- Spearhead the firm's debt recovery and corporate recovery portfolio, engineering rapid and legally sound strategies for major financial institutions and corporate entities.
- Actively direct execution processes, including the attachment of property, realization of security, and tracking of distressed corporate assets.
- File Management & Operational Leadership
- Oversee demanding, high-pressure case portfolios independently, maintaining impeccable communication with corporate clientele.
- Mentor, train, and quality-check the legal drafting and output of junior associates, legal assistants, and pupils.
Academic Qualifications & Key Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from a recognized university.
- Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
- 6+ Years PQE centered strictly on commercial litigation, corporate recovery, asset tracing, and arbitration.
- Professional certifications in ADR (e.g., Aciarb/Mciarb or Certified Mediator status) are highly desirable
