JOB SUMMARY

Minimum Academic Qualifications:Doctorate (Ph.D.) in the area of specializationRegistered with the relevant professional body10 years of university teaching/research experience with 5 years’ experience in a managerial positionExperience teaching & learning, research, and administration

RESPONSIBILITIES

Advise the Dean on policy directions and strategic initiatives that impact and enhance effective Research in the School.Oversee and provide strategic leadership for postgraduate research activities withinthe schoolCoordinate and support the development of research priorities in the schoolEncourage and support staff in applying for internal and external research grantsMentor Junior Faculty in developing research skills and scholarly outputEnsure that research activities comply with institutional, national, and international ethical standards.Monitor and report on the school’s research performance and outputs (publications, grants, citations, etc.).Facilitate partnerships and collaboration with other departments, external institutions, industry, and funding bodies.Managing the school's strategic staff establishments by participating in sourcing, recruiting staff, and creating a conducive culture to maintain the school's research standardsManage day-to-day operations of the school’s budget proposals and supervise implementation of the sameCreate a platform for world-class faculty capacity development and career progressionPromote and foster research among academic staff in the school to enhance learning and the school's research profileSeek and foster partnerships to promote the accreditation and ranking of the school’s academic researchEnsure that the faculty complies with legal requirements and with university instructions, decisions, policies, and proceduresAdvise the Dean on emerging regulatory and policy directions affecting the school’s research activitiesAttending the academic council in the absence of the Dean
