JOB SUMMARY

Qualifications and ExperiencePhD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or a related discipline from a recognized universityORMaster of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with recognized subspecialty Fellowship training considered equivalent to a PhD in accordance with CUE guidelines and Senate approvalRegistration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) with a valid practicing licenseMinimum of 6 years of university teaching experience, including at least 3 years at the rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalentEvidence of postgraduate supervision to completion, including:At least 2 PhD students and 3 Master’s students ORAt least 10 Master’s studentsMinimum of 32 publication points in peer-reviewed journals, including at least 3 publications since last promotionContribution to scholarly book chapters or academic publicationsEvidence of successful attraction of research funding or development resourcesDemonstrated academic leadership, mentorship, and contribution to university governanceEvidence of community engagement and professional service

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach undergraduate and postgraduate medical studentsSupervise Master’s and PhD studentsConduct independent and collaborative research leading to peer-reviewed publicationsProvide academic leadership within the department and schoolParticipate in curriculum development, program review, and academic innovationProvide specialist clinical services in affiliated teaching hospitalsParticipate in departmental, faculty, and university governance structuresMentor junior academic staff and traineesContribute to research capacity building within the department
