JOB SUMMARY
Qualifications and ExperienceApplicants must possess:An earned PhD in the relevant field from a recognized university:PhD in Old Testament Studies;PhD in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related field;PhD in Religious Studies or related discipline.A Master’s degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant field;A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized university;KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent qualification;Minimum of nine (9) years of university teaching and research experience, including at least three (3) years at the rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalent;Significant record of scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals;Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students;Demonstrated academic leadership and contribution to curriculum development;Evidence of participation in funded research projects, consultancies, or grant-supported academic initiatives will be an added advantage;Meets the University requirements for appointment and promotion to the rank of Associate Professor;Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable;Ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church;Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing;Demonstrated commitment to Adventist philosophy of education and values;Ability to integrate faith and learning in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education;Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, E-Learning platforms, Internet applications, and relevant statistical software.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide academic leadership and mentorship to junior faculty members;Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students;Develop and review academic programmes;Supervise postgraduate research projects and theses;Conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals;Prepare, moderate, and mark examinations;Participate in strategic planning and departmental development;Assist in quality assurance and accreditation processes;Mentor junior faculty and students in research and professional development;Participate in resource mobilization and collaborative research initiatives;Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
