The Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited is incorporated in Kenya under the Company Act and is also licensed to do the business of banking under the Banking Act. The Bank was initially registered under the Co-operative Societies Act at the point of founding in . This status was retained up to and until June 27th when the Bank’s Special General Meeting resolved to incorporate under the Companies Act with a view to complying with the requirements for listing on the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE)
Tasks and Responsibilities
Manage operational activities at the branch including resourcefulness of the staff. Reconciliations of FOSA bank accounts together with banker’s cheque and control accounts. Produce reports of monthly disbursement of advances. Ensure processing of internal and external standing orders is properly done Verify the accuracy of the treasury cash movement throughout the Sacco Ensuring proper daily updating of the treasury register Ensure proper handling of members’ inquiries and issues at the branch Ensuring funds transfers are properly done Ensure proper and timely processing of members’ salaries Managing the mobile banking process Approval of banker’s cheques transfers Ensuring membership withdrawals are properly done Ensure the accuracy of recordings for FOSA transactions Act as the primary custodian of the strong room and treasury Guide staff to deliver on branch strategic goals and targets to ensure branch success In charge of branch resources Mapping and scoping the business opportunity within the Sacco environs, including profiling the business activities within the locality of the Sacco to identify potential business opportunities Customer calls to set up meetings with potential customers with a view to establishing new sales opportunities for holistic solutions to the customers Ensure timely and effective loan approval process within set limits, by presenting appraised loans for approval and approving the same in the systemMinimum Qualifications and Attributes
Bachelor’s in a business-related course. Membership in a professional body is desirable A minimum of 5 years of working experience in a financial institution (three years must be in operations at a supervisory or management level) Sound knowledge of Banking and Sacco laws and regulations A person of integrity, team player with effective communication skills Strategic thinker with good commercial judgement and ability to identify economic opportunities in changing environment and capitalize on them Sound judgment and decision-making ability on lending across all sectors Customer-focused – striking a solid balance between external and internal customer orientation.
