M.P. Shah Hospital is a Social Service league Hospital which has been in existence for the last 83 years, as a ‘not for profit’ organization. The Hospital has one single social objective of providing quality, affordable health care services to the community at affordable costs. It is a multi-super-specialty, state-of-the art, tertiary care hospital with a current capacity of 210 fully operational beds, 30 dedicated critical care beds, 10 renal dialysis units and 12 chemotherapy units. It provides all the modern out-patient and in-patient facilities with dedicated pavilions/ wards, specialty clinics, advanced radiology, pathology and Cath lab operations. We are going through exciting times of development and redefining the way health care is delivered in East and Central Africa region.
JOB SUMMARY
EducationDegree in Radiography/ Diploma in Radiography and Higher diploma or certificate in echocardiography from a reputable university or collegeRegistration with the relevant professional body.Valid certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS)Valid certificate in ACLS
RESPONSIBILITIES
Generate high quality diagnostic images by accurately positioning transducer, monitoring display, listening to signals, adjusting beam strength and focus, detecting artifacts that mimic abnormalities, and recording images.Perform ECG, 2D echocardiograms, advanced Echocardiograms, Stress EchocardiogramAssist in dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram and contrast Echocardiography for both in and outpatients Write Echocardiogram reports, to be countersigned by the cardiologistAssist Cardiologists in performing Trans-Esophageal Echo (TEE)Promote patient care and comfort by adequately preparing patient for echocardiogram through proper explanation of exam procedures, answering questions and providing ambulatory assistance.Facilitate clinical decision making by producing measurements of heart wall, chamber size and blood flow direction and velocity and comparing measurements to establisher norms.Ensure exam accuracy by reviewing patient’s medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results. And physician orders and obtaining necessary clinical information from patients and compares requisitions to physicians’ orders.Facilitate patient safety by adhering to infection-control policy and protocols and administering first aid and aiding the emergency team.Achieve quality assurance and control by completing preventive maintenance requirement through proper calibration; following manufacturers information; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs and maintain equipment inventories.Aid in reducing turnaround times by prioritizing, coordinating and scheduling patients coming for echocardiographic procedures and ensuring timely issuance of patient reports.Collaborate with Biomedical Engineers to ensure prompt maintenance of EquipmentMaintain accurate records of tests carried out by ensuring correct data entry on computer, report forms as well as batch registers.Maintain effective communication with the other members of the Multidisciplinary team for effective patient careParticipate in Unit based Continuing education and implementation of quality control programs in the department.Assist the manager in data collection and monitoring of identifies unit-based quality and performance indicators.Participate in departmental events such as public screening for heart disease, medical camps, heart day activities and conferences.
