OPEN POSITIONS1. CBE JS Anchor Teacher – English & Creative Arts
The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating effective competency-based learning in English and Creative Arts, while supporting learners to develop communication, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and other core competencies envisioned under the Competency-Based Education framework.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons in English and Creative Arts in accordance with the approved CBE curriculum designs.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, learning activities and appropriate instructional materials.
- Apply competency-based teaching approaches that promote active learning, inquiry, creativity and problem-solving.
- Integrate core competencies, pertinent and contemporary issues and values into teaching and learning.
- Facilitate the development of learners’ listening, speaking, reading, writing and communication skills.
- Guide learners in creative activities including visual arts, performing arts, crafts, music-related activities and other forms of artistic expression as appropriate.
- Design practical, project-based and experiential learning activities that allow learners to demonstrate acquired competencies.
- Conduct continuous assessment using appropriate CBE assessment tools and techniques.
- Maintain accurate learner assessment records, portfolios, progress reports and other required documentation.
- Identify individual learner needs and provide appropriate differentiated support and intervention.
- Prepare learners for internal and external assessments where applicable.
- Create and maintain an inclusive, stimulating and learner-centred classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour, learner responsibility and high standards of discipline.
- Integrate ICT and other appropriate educational technologies into teaching and learning.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding learner progress and development.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, learner review meetings and other school engagements.
- Collaborate with other teachers in curriculum planning, interdisciplinary learning and school improvement activities.
- Participate in clubs, competitions, exhibitions, performances, school events and other co-curricular programmes.
- Keep abreast of developments and changes within the Competency-Based Education framework.
- Model and promote the school’s Christian values, ethos and standards of conduct.
- Undertake any other relevant responsibilities assigned by the school leadership.
2. Early Years Teacher – CBE Campus
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment that supports the physical, cognitive, social, emotional, creative and spiritual development of young learners.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate learning experiences in accordance with the CBE Early Years curriculum.
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and learning activities aligned with curriculum requirements.
- Facilitate learning through play, exploration, discovery, storytelling, songs, movement and practical activities.
- Support the development of early literacy, numeracy, communication, creative expression and social skills.
- Integrate relevant competencies, values and pertinent and contemporary issues into learning activities.
- Create a stimulating, attractive, safe and learner-friendly classroom environment.
- Observe and assess learners continuously using appropriate formative assessment approaches.
- Maintain individual learner records, assessment evidence, portfolios and developmental progress reports.
- Identify learners requiring additional support and implement appropriate interventions.
- Differentiate learning activities to accommodate individual learner abilities and developmental needs.
- Promote independence, confidence, curiosity, creativity and positive social interaction among learners.
- Establish effective classroom routines and use positive approaches to behaviour management.
- Ensure appropriate supervision of learners and maintain high standards of health, safety and child protection.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding learner progress, behaviour and development.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and prepare comprehensive learner progress reports.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, other teachers and school leadership to support learners.
- Organise and participate in educational visits, assemblies, school events, play activities and co-curricular programmes.
- Integrate appropriate digital and instructional resources into Early Years teaching.
- Participate in professional development, curriculum review and school improvement programmes.
- Model and uphold the Christian values and ethos of the school.
- Perform any other related responsibilities assigned by the school leadership.
3. Music Teacher – Whole School
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering a vibrant and engaging Music programme across the school, supporting learners to develop musical knowledge, creativity, performance skills and appreciation of music.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Music lessons across the relevant age groups and curriculum levels within the school.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and teaching resources that meet curriculum requirements.
- Teach key areas of music including rhythm, melody, notation, listening, composition, performance and music appreciation.
- Provide practical instruction in appropriate musical instruments based on the school’s programme and available resources.
- Develop learners’ vocal and instrumental abilities through structured individual and group activities.
- Identify and nurture learners with musical talent and provide opportunities for further development.
- Organise and lead school choirs, bands, ensembles or other musical groups as appropriate.
- Prepare learners for school performances, concerts, competitions, assemblies, worship services and other events.
- Coordinate music presentations during school functions and special occasions.
- Incorporate African, contemporary, classical and other appropriate musical traditions into learning.
- Use appropriate technology and digital resources to enhance music instruction and creativity.
- Assess learners’ musical knowledge, practical skills and progress using appropriate assessment approaches.
- Maintain accurate records of learner performance and progress.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate learners with varying musical abilities and experience.
- Maintain, organise and monitor the proper use of musical instruments and equipment.
- Recommend appropriate musical instruments, equipment and resources required to strengthen the school’s Music programme.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate music into interdisciplinary learning and school activities.
- Encourage creativity, confidence, teamwork and self-expression through music.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and positive environment during music lessons and rehearsals.
- Support the school’s Christian ethos through appropriate music programmes, worship activities and school events.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent engagements and other school programmes.
- Perform any other related responsibilities assigned by the school leadership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or another relevant education qualification from a recognised institution.
- Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- CBE training is required for applicants seeking the CBE Anchor Teacher and Early Years Teacher positions.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant teaching experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge and practical understanding of competency-based teaching and assessment approaches.
- Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment tools and learner progress reports.
- Good ICT skills and ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration and organisational skills.
- High standards of professionalism, integrity, creativity and accountability.
