Job Summary

We are searching for a passionate and skilled Nigerian Chef to join our team and lead us on a culinary adventure through the exciting flavors of Nigeria. You will be responsible for creating and preparing authentic Nigerian dishes, overseeing our kitchen staff, and ensuring the highest quality standards in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

Develop and implement daily and seasonal specials that showcase the diverse ingredients, cooking techniques, and regional specialties of Nigerian cuisine, aligned with your restaurant's focus.
Prepare a wide variety of Nigerian dishes, including soups (egusi, ogbono), stews (jollof rice, buka stew), stews with pounded yam accompaniments, flavorful rice dishes, and unique Nigerian desserts (chin chin, puff puff).
Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and authenticity of all dishes, highlighting the vibrant and bold flavors of Nigerian cuisine.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment according to all health and safety regulations.
Manage and train kitchen staff, delegating tasks, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a collaborative environment.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to source high-quality Nigerian ingredients, prioritizing local sourcing whenever possible.
Contribute to menu planning and recipe development, focusing on incorporating seasonal and regional specialties.
Adhere to portion control and minimize food waste.
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Possess a deep understanding of Nigerian culinary traditions and the importance of specific spices and ingredients in Nigerian cuisine.


Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of experience working in a professional Nigerian kitchen, preferably with experience in your specific regional focus (if applicable).
Strong knowledge of Nigerian ingredients, cooking techniques, and traditional Nigerian dishes from various regions.
Proven ability to prepare a wide variety of Nigerian dishes from scratch, showcasing the unique spice blends and cooking methods.
Excellent knife skills and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train kitchen staff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for Nigerian cuisine and a commitment to providing an authentic and flavorful dining experience.
