Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Child Engagement & Development
· Facilitate and supervise group studies and individual study sessions, ensuring children are learning and progressing.
· Conduct verbal literacy sessions aimed at strengthening children's reading, writing, and proficiency in English self-expression.
· Provide a tailored individualized computer classes to ensure each child receives tailored digital literacy support.
· Organize games and sports activities to enhance physical fitness and teamwork.
· Lead fun cooking sessions that build life skills in a fun and engaging way.
· Provide basic counselling support and emotional guidance; identify and refer complex cases appropriately.
· Create a positive rapport with children, offering mentorship, encouragement, and a safe listening ear.
· Actively support children during community farm service tasks, guiding them in giving back and learning responsibility.
Family & Community Engagement
· When need be Conduct home visits to monitor child well-being, strengthen family relationships, and provide necessary support.
· Engage parents in general meetings and other forums where children's progress and concerns are addressed.
· Help parents understand the importance of education, health, and discipline through informal and formal interactions.
School Liaison
· Coordinate with schools for regular follow-up on children’s academic progress, attendance, and discipline.
· Attend school meetings when needed to advocate for or support enrolled children.
Centre Management
· Open and close the centre gate, ensuring safety protocols are followed consistently.
· Keep the Centre child-friendly at all times.
· Ensure proper supervision and safety of children throughout all activities.
· Maintain records of children’s participation, progress, and behavioural issues.
· Prepare simple reports as requested by the Project Admin.
· Support during barazas (community meetings) and represent the centre’s work effectively.
· Handle minor first-aid or emergencies as needed.
· Perform any other tasks necessary for the smooth running of the centre and the well-being of the children.
Qualifications
· Diploma or certificate in Social Work, Child Development, Education, or a related field.
· Experience working with children in a community or educational setting is highly preferred.
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills; able to work independently and manage diverse tasks.
· Basic IT skills and the ability to teach children computer basics.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both children and adults.
· Trustworthy, proactive, and compassionate.
Working Conditions
· This role requires flexibility in working hours, including early mornings and weekends.
· Fieldwork is a key part of this position (home visits, school visits, etc.).
· Must be comfortable working alone while also coordinating with a broader team remotely when needed.
