  • Laptop, second monitor, internet and power backup
  • Structured training and written progression milestones

The role

You will monitor clinical quality, documentation and regulatory compliance for overseas community care and disability providers.

Your core responsibility is to identify patterns, gaps and risks in care records, ensure procedures are followed, and escalate issues appropriately.

What you will do

  • Review daily care/progress notes and identify concerning patterns.
  • Check care plans against documented practice, including:
    • Mealtime/swallowing plans
    • Epilepsy action plans
    • Behaviour support plans
    • Medication charts
  • Maintain incident and complaint registers.
  • Draft regulatory notifications for approval.
  • Prepare and maintain audit evidence.
  • Conduct internal audits and identify compliance gaps.
  • Handle overnight escalation calls: gather facts, document accurately and escalate to the appropriate clinical team.
  • Develop clinical procedures, red-flag checklists and training materials.

Important: this is not clinical practice

You will not:

  • Assess patients
  • Prescribe
  • Direct care
  • Provide clinical advice

Your role is to notice, document, verify and escalate to the overseas clinical team.

If you want a hands-on nursing role, this position is not suitable.

Requirements Qualification - one of:

  • Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery (Clinical Officer)

Required: Current professional registration and valid practising licence.

Experience

0–4 years. Strong recent graduates are welcome.

Advantageous experience

  • Hospital accreditation
  • Quality improvement
  • Clinical audit
  • Infection prevention
  • Health records/medical coding
  • Health information systems
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Research assistant work
  • Mission hospital or NGO programmes

Essential skills

  • Excellent written English
  • Strong computer skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Accurate documentation
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies and patterns
  • Ability to work night shifts
  • Willingness to escalate when uncertain rather than improvise

Progression

Month 2: Review clinical notes with supervision and participate in escalation calls.

Month 4: Independently manage incident/complaint registers and draft regulatory notifications.

Month 7: Conduct internal audits and present findings.

Month 12: Support a regulatory inspection, contribute to the clinical manual and train new team members.

Working hours

First 4 weeks: 4:00am–1:00pm for training.

After training: 2:00pm–2:00am.

Location: Nairobi office.

This is not a work-from-home role because the position involves confidential health records.

Applicants outside Nairobi are welcome. We will assist with finding accommodation within walking distance of the office.

Pay

KES 35,000–50,000 net/month, based on experience and recruitment performance.

Salary is reviewed at 6 and 12 months, with progression criteria provided in writing.

How to apply

Your application must include the written task below. Applications without it will not be considered.

The task
Before you apply: read these three notes

MONDAY: “Ate about half his dinner. Quiet today.”

TUESDAY: “Slept in until 10. Said he was tired. Declined his walk.”

WEDNESDAY: “Didn't finish his tea. Several trips to the toilet overnight. A bit confused about the day.”

They were written on three consecutive days about the same man, by three different care workers. Each note was filed correctly. Nobody joined them up.
