JOB PURPOSE
The Credit Officer – Salary Advance Loans is responsible for marketing, appraising, disbursing, and recovering salary advance loans while ensuring compliance with company credit policies, risk standards, and regulatory requirements.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Loan Origination & Marketing
- Market salary advance loan products to eligible salaried employees.
- Identify and onboard new clients through employer partnerships.
- Educate clients on loan terms, repayment schedules, and interest rates.
2. Credit Appraisal & Approval
- Review loan applications for accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze payslips, bank statements, and employment details.
- Conduct affordability and credit risk assessments.
- Recommend loans for approval within delegated limits.
3. Loan Disbursement & Documentation
- Ensure proper execution of loan agreements.
- Confirm standing orders or payroll deductions.
- Maintain accurate client credit files.
4. Portfolio Management & Collections
- Monitor loan repayments and portfolio performance.
- Follow up on arrears and implement recovery actions.
- Maintain portfolio quality within set targets.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
- Adhere to internal credit policies and procedures.
- Comply with regulatory and data protection requirements.
- Detect and report fraud or irregularities.
6. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare credit and collections reports.
- Update loan management systems accurately.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 1–3 years’ experience in credit management or salary advance lending.
