Position: Crop Protection Officer

Reporting to Production Manager

Industry: Agriculture

Location: Naivasha

Salary: Ksh 40,000 plus bonus

 

 

Our client is a grower of fresh produce with their main crops being; cabbage, frenchbeans, babycorn and potatoes. They seek to hire a crop protection officer.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for all application of pesticides, herbicides, weed killers and any other crop protection
• Coordination of all crop scouting and IPM (integrated pest management) implementation
• Handling equipment & machinery (sprayers) etc
• Sourcing and purchasing of crop protection products
• Understanding the types of crop protection to use and the time of application
• Ability to identify a crop problem and find the appropriate product to use
• Maintaining high standards of quality to meet the export market demands
• Prepare a crop protection schedule weekly and per season
• Preventive protection of crops from disease or pest infestation
• Reporting to management on the progress

 

 

Requirements:

• Min Degree/ Higher Diploma in Agriculture/ Crop Production
• Minimum 2 years experience handling crop protection (spraying, pesticides, and weed killers)
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Team player and able to work with minimal supervision
• Flexible and good planning and organization skills
• Good time management skills
• Integrity
