It was the second public university to be established in Kenya, after the University of NairobiMU/AC/15/5/Duties and ResponsibilitiesAn officer at this level will be responsible for; Cleaning of glassware and apparatus for teaching and research;Dusting of all equipment used for teaching and research;Ensuring the storage of chemicals/materials in clean, well labeled shelves arranged in order;Keeping the Laboratory clean, proper arrangement of the laboratory;Setting of equipment for practical’s and demonstrations;Collection and preparation of teaching and research materials;Ensuring safe keeping and disposal of waste left behind after practical’s:Carrying out basic routine analysis in relevant discipline in the laboratory;Supervising Technical Assistants; andPerforming any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. For appointment to this grade, an officer must:- Have Diploma in relevant discipline or its equivalent from a recognized institution;Have computer skills in relevant packages from a recognized institution;Have served in the grade of Assistant Technician or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three years;Be licensed or licensable by the relevant professional body; andHave shown merit.and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
