KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- Internally: Retail Operations Manager, Finance, Warehouse Personnel, Branch Team Leaders/Branch Accountants, Inventory Accountant, Virtual team, Stock Clerks, Design Consultants, Drivers, IT Personnel, Customer Service, HQ team, Visual Merchandiser.
- Externally: Clients, Suppliers, Logistics/ Transport Partners, Business Partners.
The job holder reports to: The Branch Team Leader & Marketing or their designate.
Role Purpose
The design consultant will be responsible for generating leads, customer service, and meeting sales targets. They will need to have a deep understanding of the products, sales process and dynamics, and superb interpersonal skills. An ideal design consultant should portray energy, people's centricity, integrity, and customer centricity.
Responsibilities
1. Sales & Business Growth
(i) Proactively generate leads, build a strong sales pipeline, and consistently achieve or exceed monthly sales targets.
(ii)Engage clients through timely communication on promotions, new arrivals, and restocked items of interest.
(iii) Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell by deeply understanding customer needs and market trends.
2. Client Engagement & Advisory
(i) Welcome and engage showroom guests with professionalism and energy, providing expert advice on product features and tailored solutions.
(ii)Conduct product presentations and demonstrations, including assembling furniture when required, to showcase value to clients.
(iii) Collaborate with visual merchandisers to prepare layouts, mood boards, and customized solutions for clients.
(iv) Carry out client site visits and measurements to ensure accuracy in proposed solutions.
3. Quotations, Negotiations & Order Management
(i)Prepare accurate, client-specific quotations and negotiate effectively to close deals.
(ii) Confirm stock availability and manage client expectations on delivery timelines.
(iii) Handle invoicing and payments with integrity while ensuring compliance with company financial policies.
4. Delivery & After-Sales Service
(i) Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and front desk teams to guarantee timely and accurate deliveries.
(ii) Serve as the client’s primary contact throughout the sales journey, addressing concerns swiftly and effectively.
(iii) Provide proactive after-sales follow-up to capture feedback, resolve issues, and maintain lasting client relationships.
5. Client Relationship Management
(i) Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with both new and repeat customers.
(ii) Ensure proper client database management by updating relevant information for future engagement and tracking.
(iii) Deliver exceptional customer experiences that reflect the company’s customer-first values.
6. Showroom & Operational Excellence
(i) Support visual merchandising efforts by contributing creative ideas for impactful showroom displays.
(ii) Collaborate with the branch manager on operational improvements and policy
refinements that enhance efficiency and client satisfaction.
(iii) Uphold company policies on payment terms, sales procedures, and compliance frameworks.
