JOB TITLE: ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
NATURE OF JOB: FULL TIME
SALARY: KSHS. 25,000
JOB LOCATION: MARA RIVER

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation & Commissioning
  • Install electrical wiring, control systems, and equipment in accordance with technical specifications and safety standards 
  • Assist in commissioning new equipment and systems 
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals 

Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of electrical systems and machinery 
  • Diagnose faults using appropriate testing equipment and tools 
  • Repair or replace defective components such as motors, switches, relays, and circuit breakers 
  • Ensure all repairs are completed promptly to minimize operational downtime 

Preventive Maintenance
  • Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules 
  • Conduct regular system checks to identify potential issues before failure occurs 
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities and equipment performance 

Emergency Response
  • Respond quickly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues under pressure to restore normal operations 
  • Escalate complex issues where necessary 

Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards and company policies 
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times 
  • Identify and report potential hazards and recommend corrective actions 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements 

Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance, repairs, and inspections 
  • Prepare reports on system performance and recurring issues 
  • Track spare parts usage and report inventory needs 

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a field or industrial environment 
  • Experience working with generators, pumps, control panels, and electrical distribution systems is an added advantage 
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills 
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, tools, and safety practices 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals 
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability 
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
