ABOUT THE COMPANY

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is GIZ’s main commissioning party. However, GIZ as well works closely with the private sector, fostering successful interaction between development policy and foreign trade.
JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring the provision of efficient support services related to financial management, contractual obligations, and other administrative functions for the EU-cofunded project SWIOP-Invest under ProsperBlue as part of the Agricultural Cluster.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial ManagementSupport the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports in alignment with project goals, donor requirements and GIZ regulations.Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with cost-output reporting (KOMP), EU co-financing reporting standards and any other reporting formats required by the project.Oversee financial monitoring of expenditure, costs and commitments to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints and financial regulations and provide regular (monthly) financial overviews to support budget planning and annual budget monitoring.Provide hands-on, solution-oriented financial support to programme and managementstaff, including preparation of decision-ready financial overviews and early identification of financial risks and inconsistencies.In liaison with the Head of Finance, coordinate all administrative functions related to financial management and support programme staff in executing their commercial and financial responsibilities.Act as an interface between the project, Country Office and GIZ Headquarters onfinance- and administration-related matters, ensuring clear communication and compliance with organizational standards.Facilitate internal and external audits, including preparation and follow-up, and supportthe timely correction of identified routine financial errors.Assist local project partners in financial management of grants and local contributions and reporting requirements, in close coordination with Headquarters and the Country Office, and advise them in the preparation and closing of contracts.Required qualifications, competences and experienceQualificationsMaster’s degree or university degree in business administration, finance, accounting ora related field. A professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or equivalent is an advantage.Professional experienceSeveral years of solid professional experience in financial management in complex project or donor-funded environments, preferably within international or development cooperation organizations.Other knowledge, additional competencesProven experience in financial management of co-financed projects, ideally EU-fundedor EU-co-financed programmes, including budgeting, reporting, audits and donor-specific requirements.In-depth understanding of financial planning, monitoring and accounting.Broad experience in financial management and administration in multi-stakeholderenvironments, including cooperation with public partners and line ministries.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in established financial andadministrative frameworks.Good working knowledge of GIZ financial systems and IT tools; prior experience withGIZ processes, systems and compliance requirements is a strong asset.Strong oral and written communication skills.Openness to change, flexibility and ability to manage complexity and multiple priorities.Willingness to continuously upskill as required, in agreement with management.Duration of Assignment: 1 yearDuty Station: NairobiSubmission of Application:Vacancy Reference Number: GIZ/ARD/10/01/2026Equal Employment OpportunityAt GIZ Kenya, we are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
