ROLE PROFILE - FINANCE MANAGER
Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Position Overview
The Finance Manager is responsible for the hospital’s financial stewardship, ensuring
robust financial management, revenue optimisation, and regulatory compliance.
The role oversees budgeting, financial reporting, treasury management, healthcare
billing, insurance claims processing, and financial planning to support the hospital’s
strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Oversee financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
Manage hospital revenue cycle including billing and insurance claims.
Monitor cost management and financial performance against budgets.
Manage treasury operations and cash flow forecasting.
Ensure accurate financial analysis for strategic decision-making.
Maintain relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and insurers.
Ensure compliance with statutory financial obligations and tax regulations.
Skills and Competencies
Financial Planning and Analysis
Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management, including billing and insurance claims
management
Budgetary Control and Cost Management
Financial Reporting, Compliance, and use of financial systems/tools
Strategic Financial Management and Planning
Risk and Internal Control Management
Strong Analytical and Financial Modelling Skills
Key Success Factors
Financial Controls & Revenue Optimisation: Ensure effectiveness of financial controls
and maintain revenue leakage below 1% through accurate billing and effective
claims management.
Debtor & Receivables Management: Maintain average debtor collection period of
≤45 days, with proactive management of receivables and insurance
reimbursements.
Budget Management: Keep actual expenditure variance within 5% of approved
budgets.
Financial Reporting: Ensure 100% accuracy and timeliness in monthly financial
reporting.
Audit & Compliance: Maintain a clean external audit opinion with no material
findings and ensure full compliance with statutory financial obligations and tax
requirements.
Cash Flow Forecasting: Achieve at least 90% accuracy in cash flow forecasts.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
Professional qualification such as CPA (K) / ACCA required
Registered member in good standing with the Institute of Certified Public
Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK)
Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration preferred
Minimum 8 years of finance experience, preferably in healthcare or complex
service environments
