General Purpose
Our client, a leading brand in East Africa’s food manufacturing sector, is seeking to recruit a passionate, ambitious, and career driven Graduate Trainee – Electrical Engineering to join its engineering team. The successful candidate will gain hands-on exposure to food manufacturing processes while supporting the maintenance, servicing, repair, and commissioning of factory machinery, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate looking to build a career in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Location: Nairobi| Stipend: Ksh. 30,000 

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Execute preventive, autonomous, and planned maintenance on factory machinery, equipment, standby generators, utilities, and buildings.
  • Support the repair and servicing of machinery and equipment to ensure maximum availability and optimal performance.
  • Participate in the commissioning and installation of new equipment and engineering systems.
  • Execute OSHA audit findings and other engineering, safety, and improvement initiatives.
  • Initiate and support continuous improvement projects, including process automation, to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement engineering processes and services in compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs, job cards, performance records, repair history, and calibration records.
  • Support efforts to ensure machine and equipment availability while minimizing downtime in line with departmental KPIs.
  • Train and support machine operators on simple diagnostic and preventive maintenance practices, including identifying unfamiliar sounds, overheating, lubrication needs, and other early warning signs.
  • Maintain clean and hygienic workstations while supporting food safety and factory hygiene programs.
  • Continually identify opportunities for process improvement, utility cost reduction, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Work closely with the Production Department to reduce equipment breakdowns and improve production output.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum Second-Class Upper Division.
  • First Class Honours will be an added advantage.
  • At least one (1) year of industrial exposure, preferably within a food manufacturing or similar production environment.
